I am going to be switching Nikko over to Taste of the Wild soon, and I was wondering:

Would it be OK to switch flavors of the same brand/type of food without gradually mixing it in, or it is recommended to do it over the course of a week?

I am going to start him out on the High Prairie flavor, but thought I could maybe alternate each bag between that and the Pacific Stream flavor so he doesn’t get bored of his food. I also don’t want to cause him to get the runs either.

Wondering if anyone else does this with their food.

Switching between different formulas in the same brand is no different from switching between formulas of different brands. You are still switching between totally different protein sources and ingredients. How long you take to transition will depend on your individual dogs. If they can handle a cold turkey switch then there's nothing wrong with doing that, if they require a more gradual switch because they have sensitive tummies then that will be what you need to do. Wink

this has been brought up in the past if you want to search it, but i have found with my 2 that have no tummy issues that switching flavors in the same brand is fine

Thanks, I found the post and it looks like people have had mixed results, and I could be creating a picky eater by doing that. Besides, I already switched Yukon to TOTW High Prairie and he seems to be doing very well on that food, so I might as well stick to the same formula.
