thanks ladies! i have about 15lbs to go and its all in my legs with a little in the stomach and arms. im hoping the heavy lifting i will really start this week + the hiking will take care of the legs, that and getting back on track with my diet. girls weekend and my b-day killed me, what i did gain i lost just in time for my b-day and now i have 2lbs to lose from this weekend to be where i was.

Val, im with you on the food, one of the +'s to my bday was i asked people to bring food to share and i got to taste all kinds of good food that then left the house, the fridge is still stuffed with food that i made but its all safe for me to eat. i do have icecream cake in the freezer but the good thing its frozen and will be my "treat" after hiking for the next few weeks.
Lindsay does Zumba and she likes it, i suck at dancing....
don't beat yourself up and just get back on track its all good Smile

We all get off track every once in a while. Look at me for example. On Friday I busted my butt at the gym to then eat a huge burger Rolling Eyes

My friend does zumba and loves it. I'm going to give it a try with her real soon!

I'll definitely share how I like the Zumba fitness.

Jenn, I've been doing Step Aerobics for the past few weeks so I'm getting into a little better shape but I know I still have a ways to go. I'm still on the low intensity 45 minute step aerobic workouts right now, not ready for high intensity yet. I'm going to give the Zumba workouts a try and see how much I can handle, I won't overdo it or anything but I'm going to give it my best and push myself to where I know I can safely handle.

That's what I want to hear!

I popped the first DVD in last night and did about 10 minutes worth of the "Basics" which is really just slowly introducing the different steps. Not very far in, I know, but I enjoyed that little bit and found myself practicing some of the basic steps in the bathroom while I was getting ready for bed last night. LOL Oh I do think I will thoroughly enjoy this and can't wait to try more later today!

They have it for the PS3 also! I read a lot of reviews and it seemed like people recommended the DVD set over the Wii or PS3 Zumba games so that's why I opted for the DVD set.

Melissa, this is the set I got:
Zumba Fitness Total Body Transformation System DVD set

I bought the at home stuff because I didn't want to look like an idiot in front of a bunch of people too.

I did the Zumba "Basic" today and I can tell you that I have no rhythm whatsoever after my sorry attempts to imitate the instructors. I can tell this is going to take a while for me to get the hang of. And even just doing the Basic today (where they teach you all the moves) I was ready to collapse after 30 minutes. I spent the last half of the Basic sitting on the sofa with Faith watching them work out. lol!

Kristina, nope no Wii, but I do have a ps3! I go to Ballys, but they only offer Zumba at 930am on Mondays and Wednesdays..UGH. A friend of mine does it at pole dancing studio for $4 a class..lol. I'm going to try it there at some point and see how it goes. Where do you go?

That DVD set looks awesome! Hmmm decisions decisions! I've looked for zumba on youtube and it seems like it can get a bit complicated. I'll probably end up sitting on the couch watching also..lol

I go to 24hour fitness, Zumba 4x a week!!

I might get that... It would be nice to kinda know the moves before I get there! Rather than trip over my own feet for the first half of every move...

We did weigh ins this weekend, it's been 6 weeks since the last one and everyone's results are good.

Six weeks ago I weighed 110 lbs and yesterday I weighed in at 109 lbs so 1 lb lost which was not my goal but it's not bad either.

I'm very proud of my hubby though, he lost 12 lbs in the last 6 weeks and it shows. I think his goal is to lose another 10 lbs to reach his target weight.

Practice makes perfect and I'm getting better at Zumba every time I do it which is making me happy. I was discouraged at first considering how poorly I did the first time I tried but I'm doing better and liking it more and more as I get the hang of it. I sometimes find myself practicing the steps in the shower (probably dangerous with my lack of coordination) but that's just a testament to how much fun it is when you keep at it even in the "off" times. Smile

She is good and what I like about her versus the instructors in the DVD set is that she actually looks normal! The instructors on the DVD just put normal people (like me for example) to shame, it's nice to see "normal" people doing Zumba so that I don't feel so bad! lol It's so much harder than it looks...well for me it is anyway. Rolling Eyes I'm at the point where I've got most of the footwork down so I really need to focus on the hip action as well as arms...not easy for the uncoordinated like me! One of these days I'll get there. Thanks for sharing the video, now I'm off to waste more time watching other Zumba videos. Laughing

Girl, I'm totally uncoordinated also! Took me like 2 months of doing aerobics to finally get most of the steps and still got lost at the end..LOL. I'm still to try one of the DVD's, but i tried this and it was fun. Not too hard at all. Just shake your booty..LOL!!!

Have you tried bike riding? That's fun too and you don't need to be coordinated for that =) I biked almost 10miles with the hubby just now and I'm exhausted!!!! I just got into it so I'm thinking 10miles is decent..LOL! We rode from out house to this bridge, but only made it up about half way. I couldn't take it anymore and I really really wanted to go up all the way Crying or Very sad

I want to get back into biking. In fact the neighbor housewives that I walk with every morning go biking every day as well and invited me to join them but I told them I'd have to pass on biking until temps start to cool in the fall. Me and heat don't mesh well as they tend to trigger my migraines. I fully intend to start biking in the fall through spring though!

Weighed in yesterday, still did not intend to lose any weight but I lost 2 lbs in the last 5 weeks.

Last 3 weigh ins:

5/1 - 110 lbs

6/12 - 109 lbs

7/17 - 107 lbs
