| hi - had a recent post regarding adoption of a rescue sibe.
briefly, we have a 9 month old female who has a very quiet disposition. we adopted (4 days ago) a 12 month female sibe who is very friendly.
since their introduction they have been play fighting that mostly involves each trying to "mount" the other - there is no teeth & tails are wagging.
however on a couple of occasions the new dog, who is much smaller, has had a seriously vicious go at the other who is not a fighter.
i don't want the new dog to have dominance over the other so could anyone please advise regarding how much i can intervene in this?
many thanks. |

| I would put the new dog in time out when she gets vicious about it. That's just me personally, when I got Link he was always too rough with Cloud so he constantly got time outs, now he's way better. |

You said the 9 month old had a quieter disposition. I don't think you should let it get out of hand, but they'll naturally settle into a "ranking" with one another. |

I agree our older dog has a very submissive personality and his brother does not, but itssomething that they have to work out themselves. We never did let nikolai hump siku but we did watch them and let them work out the toys and stuff themselves as long as it is not aggresive they just have to establish their roles in the pack. |

| hi thanks for your replies - guess i was hoping that she would handle the new dog better on her own without my intervention - as i said she can hold her own in play fights but the other one has the advantage when it comes down to the pure aggression bit outside that. so from what you say it looks like i will have to (unfortunately) be firm with the new pup regarding "her perception" of hierarchy within the pack. |
