Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

Sometime this year I noticed Shaqua now has some "moles" on her face. A couple real close to her eye, and another right below her eye. Is this normal for an aging dog? At what point do you worry about things like these? They look like moles or skin tags that we humans get. It keeps tricking me thinking she has a tick but...nope.

My 13 year old dog Samantha had something like that right on the rims of her eyes. They didn't show up until she was around 11 or 12 years of age. Every once in a while they would burst and bleed for a bit, but never really bothered her. I left them alone rather than take her to the vet and risk something happening while she was under the anesthesia.

I found one on Saber a couple of months ago. It's between his left eye and ear. You can't see it just by looking at him. I happened to be petting him and noticed a slight bump, so I parted his hair and it looks exactly like a skin tag us humans get. It doesn't seem to bother him so I'm not too worried about it.

My old had something similiar right by her eye and a big one on the front of her right front leg the vet told us not to worry but did remove them for free when we had to send her in for an enormous tumor (we thought it was the size of a golf ball but when removed was at least the size of a softball if not a little bigger) popping up on her back. If she hadnt needed the tumor removed we would have left them alone. If your worried I would have them looked at just to be sure .

Roxy has these same spots. My wife works as a Vet tech and said they are just old age spotsand your right they really do look just like skin tags. Im sure they are the same thing.
