Itchy Eyes Empty
PostSubject: Itchy Eyes   Itchy Eyes EmptyTue Feb 05, 2013 1:33 pm

For the past few month's Hayden has developed this thing where he is obsessed with us itching his eyes. It's sort of gross, I will rub his eyes and he will start kicking his leg's and he absolutely loves it. At first I thought it was cute, but now I'm wondering if there's a reason his eyes are so itchy. Last night he was really restless right before bed and he took his nose towards my hand, nudging me towards his eyes as if saying "itch my eyes" and after I itched them, he calmed right now. I know some huskies can have eye problems, so I'm worried this could be something medical. Should I be worried or has anyone ever heard of a dog liking their eyes itched?

I tried googling this and haven't came up with anything.

my guy has itchy eyes as well, though he does ask us to itch them for him. his eyes had been leaking and itchy for nearly the whole summer, we thought it was allergies, but after developing other symptoms we found out that he had hypothyroidism. we put him on meds for it and the leaking has stopped, but his itching has not, the vet has no idea what it could be as his eyes are healthy aside from him itching them

Is there any discharge with the itching? Have you considered having her eyes checked for the usual eye suspects (glaucoma, Juvenile cataracts, etc)?

No discharge or anything unusual aside from him just wanting us to itch his eyes. I plan on taking him to the vet and getting it checked out.

You may have to go to a vet ophthalmologist for definitive answers
