| I went to the vet when nala had an allergic reaction to something she ate. The vet said that her cloudy eye might be cataract and that could be a sign diabetes and that it will also requirr surgery and at he animal shelter which is county operated they may have lied about vaccinating her and it would be a good idea to do the shots again is most of this credible? Or was he trying to swindle me I'm looking out for nalas best interest and I don't know if I should go with it or not |

| Do you have documentation about the shots from the shelter? Sometimes all they give is rabies shots, but that depends on local standards they do. |

| DO not over vaccinate her - just get a titer test. Much safer for her,
Did he record these things? You may want to invest in pet insurance. I STRONGLY suggest looking into finding CERF clinics are dog shows in your area.
You don't have to be a show dog to get an exam:

| I'd agree titer for vaccine coverage before you just jab her again. Do a blood test to confirm or disprove diabetes, you'll want to know if your dog has blood sugar issues and how to treat. Allergy test if haven't done one already, if she's on a food with grains I'd suggest that be a first change. Lastly, find a certified canine ophthalmologist to check the eyes. |

http://www.vmdb.org/upcomingcerfclinics.html Ditto on the pet insurance. Megan asked if he recorded these things because it would be pre-existing condition not covered by any pet insurance. They ask for all the back records for your pet. Do you feel comfortable with your vet and do they get good reviews? |

| im sorry about all the bad news for Nala. If you can, I would try taking her to another vet just for a second opinion. It seems like that one is just guessing at the whole diabetes thing (but im no expert.) Maybe ask around for someone friends/coworkers use that they trust and is also not terribly expensive. I hope you get some good news soon! |

| are there any veterinary schools/colleges nearby? they have students and teachers in all areas of medicine to work on the dogs - and are usually less expensive. I live in Illinois and I drove to wisconsin for my girls serious medical issues. best of luck - waiting to hear good news....... |
