Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

While I understand your choice to use an invisible fence, I personally don't agree with them, just as I don't agree with bark collars of any sort.

I don't necessarily think its a good thing to use fear (especially when that fear is created view means of electric shock) as a means of containment, whether that be with dogs, adults or even children.

As far as tie outs go, I would never leave me dog unattended. We have a fenced in yard with 3 separate tie outs around the yard, because we know huskies are escape artists even in fenced in areas. That being said, I would also never hook my dogs up to a tie out via their collars either. We ALWAYS use a harness.

It's just my choice.

This topic is very controverisial among Husky owners since it falls so closely too eing off leash.

So before everyone flies off the handle keep that in mind. E fences are the only answer for some people. If they're being supervised they are just as safe and just as dangerous as tie outs or runners. Huskies are runners and as long as everyone understands the risks to having solely an e fence that's their own choice. Just like its my choice to use prongs and it may be yours to only use positive reinforcement. No one has the sole100% right answer. Keelp it friendly.

Honestly this whole thread is so indicative of what I have come to expect here its just sad! READ my first post, where do I ask for your opinions at all? I simply stated that I was happy it was working for MY dog, never said you should use it on YOUR dog! Honestly it seems like some of you just want to start drama every post you go on, it is not why I joined this forum. Read my posts, I try to help people, I don't try to tell them everything they do is wrong!

Please don't lecture me that tie outs by harness are ok, they aren't, ask your vet, they can still pull major muscles in the back if they try to run and reach the end of the rope!

Everyone have a good night! Sorry I ever posted this.

So let's see... the pro e-fence crowd didn't expect the backlash from the anti electric fence crowd. Conversely, the anti e-fence folks didn't expect the perceived elitist (above all that negative stuff) tone their posts would naturally convey. And in the end everyone thought their views were being questioned and lashed out accordingly. Lest some wary Googler find themselves astray amongst the most popular husky forum around...

Should someone come here and read a thread that prompts a question, they should ask after registering an account. The actions of the casual fly by guest shouldn't concern any of us. But it does. What if's and counter factual distinctions drive me crazy. (Unless you want to get into politics). So thread over.

Any questions should be directed to myself or site administrators.

¿Did you expect that, Balonsmom?
