Jarod and I are placing an order for 2 of these.. this was actually an ad on the side of his FB page, lmao, maybe too many times posting Koda got loose?

http://www.pettracker.com/pet-gps?__utma=1.1004316475.1315059520.1315059520.1315059520.1&__utmb=1.3.10.1315059520&__utmc=1&__utmx=-&__utmz=1.1315059520.1.1.utmcsr=Amazon|utmccn=Tagg-Launch|utmcmd=Banner&__utmv=-&__utmk=25589053

Obviously expensive, but IMHO worth every penny for a sense of security!

That's awesome Heather, and I really don't think it's too expensive for what it does. How much is the service per year? I can only see the $199.99 bundle price...

I can't find the per year price.. $199.99 includes one year.. Whatever it is, worth paying to me.

I found the early fee on their facebook - it's $59.99 per year. Not too bad - less than the impound fee at the pound!

IT'S $199 for the bundle and $139 for the 2nd dog (1 docking station needed only - I believe they said up to 9 collars per station). The only thing is that it's not released yet and i'd like to see some real testimonials. I'd need a cheaper price to actually take the chance on it without knowing if it's actually going to work. They need a pilot program - send out some free collars to husky owners to get some real first hand feedback!

I'd find it annoying having to get a text and email alert every time my dog and I go somewhere other than the apartment, though, and I'd find it just as annoying having to update the location every time too. =/

You could remove the device when you leash him up, though. And one text/email I go somewhere with the dog wouldn't annoy me if it meant keeping my dog safe long term. I'm sure you get spam everyday that means less than this.

Exactly, I won't have the dogs wearing them when we are out and about as they will obviously be fully leashed with me.

Even leashed, though, I have had dogs catch me off guard and pull the leash out of my hand and go running.

Not sure how you have that issue.. I've never had any of my dogs come close to getting the leash out of my hands and if you hold a leash properly and a good grip it shouldn't be an issue.

Let us know how you like it. It really wad invented for husky owners! I don't think the price is too bad for what the device offers, and the piece of mind it will bring.

Actually, there's a switch you flip on the collar that says "we're goin on a walk" so I doesn't alert you to them leaving their Tagg Zone, but you could still track them if the escaped on their walk.

I really want a GPS unit that doesn't rely on cell device that I could track CTU style on a handheld device.

In an ideal world where nothing goes wrong, maybe, but I am sure I am not the only one who has had that happen before.

Now that makes it perfect Very Happy If I had the money I'd totally get it.

I highly doubt that I would just drop their leashes by mistake because I'm sooooooo paranoid!!!! Then again I also KNOW that s**t happens. My hubby dropped Kody's leash TWICE when we first got him. I was like HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU JUST DROP HIS LEASH? That meant me chasing Kody down the street with Mya. Luckily he was a puppy and got scared and stopped about a block and 1/2 down. Now whenever hubby has him I'm always like "be careful please...hold him...watch out...you got him?" He says I'm annoying, but I have the full right to be a bit scared when he's holding either one of them.

If you put the leash over your wrist and hold the top part of the leash, not the handle, with a good grip, I just don't see it happening. I've never dropped my own dog's leashes and at work I've never dropped a leash either.

Trying not to get defensive here, but I know how to hold a leash. I didn't just DROP it, it was PULLED out of my hand by force. If we aren't actively walking (like standing in a field), Faolan will sometimes wrap the leash around my legs while checking things out and I have to pull it off my wrist to unwrap it and/or change hands, and that is when he decided that something looked fun to play with and ran over to whatever it was in the grass. He didn't keep running, he stopped when he got to whatever it was, and I was able to get him back, but that was something I was not doing because I was completely oblivious to what was going on. It was just an accident and it can happen to anyone. And maybe some of you will be like "Well you shouldn't have done blah, you should have done blah blah, you should have been able to predict he was going to take off" well, yeah, coulda-woulda-shoulda, but like I said, accidents happen. Not everyone is on top of things 24/7/365. Its not like its a regular occurrence though. I always put my hand through the handle and hold the actual leash while out with him. I try not to take it off unless I absolutely have to now after that incident.

Ha! I haven't dropped it yet, but I purposely do NOT put my hand through the loop so I can drop it if need be. I would rather drop the leash on a sudden pull then get pulled to the ground with a broken bone of some sort. I've heard of way too many head injuries and broken ribs from an unexpected Malamute lunge.

I've dropped Kale's leash before. I was unwrapping Kale and Violet's leashes, dropped it on accident, he didn't notice, I didn't panic, picked it back up and continued on our walk. I trust him so much on walks that I sometimes drape his leash over my shoulder. He walks right next to me the entire time, even passing other dogs. VERY unsiberian-like.

I bought a ten foot leash that has two snaps - one that connects to collar/harness and one that is in the handle. It has an O-ring that runs the length of the rope and a leather stop that I can put anywhere on it. I clip the snap on the handle to the O-ring and never worry about dropping a leash! Very Happy Mainly got it so I didn't have to worry about dropping it when we rollerblade together and I have better balance being hands-free for blading and biking. Before this though I just had a regular leash that I never dropped while walking no matter what way I carried it (Inside is another story, I drop it all of the time). I just make sure I'm careful when untangling or what have you.

That GPS thing is pretty awesome, though! I can't afford something like that Sad.
