2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Orion Too Thin? Empty
PostSubject: Orion Too Thin?   Orion Too Thin? EmptyMon Apr 30, 2012 1:54 pm

Hello,

My 11 month old husky, Orion, is looking pretty thin. I can't see his ribs or anything but he still looks thin to me. He is very active, doesn't seem like there is anything wrong at all. He always eats his TOTW. I do free feed. Also, my family also tosses his table scraps every now and then (wish they wouldn't though).

Should I be concerned, or is this normal for a growing pup? Like I said he is very active and seems like a very very happy pup. I will be getting him neutered in a few weeks so I will of course ask the vet their opinion.

Thanks, Tom

Our dog Ghost is pretty lanky, and that's how Huskies should be at least until they fill out some. The best rule of thumb is that you should be able to feel the ribs fairly easily, but not see them. How old is Orion now?

Yep, Kody is really lanky too! Everybody is always telling me that he needs to gain some weight. He's 45lbs and a he's a year and 8 months old. You can't see his ribs. He's just tall and lanky!

How much does Orion weigh?

Like the others said Huskies are lean and somewhat thin.

Blaze is also he is 18 months or so and I think he is thin. He eats twice a day most days some days he only eats once a day his choice.
