HELP PLEASE! Dakota's throwing up! Empty

So last night I started Dakota's transition from BBW puppy food to TOTW All Life Stages Sierra Mountain Food. He is about 10.5 weeks old. I only put about 25% in the bowl with 75% being BBW (what he's been eating). He DEVOURED it in about two minutes. This morning before he had breakfast he threw up a couple of small puddles within about 10 seconds of each other. The puddles were only about half the size of my iPhone, so I wasn't really worried. He had also just finished running around the apartment and playing. Then I fed him breakfast, then lunch awhile later. About five hours after lunch we went outside to go potty. He went potty (both #1 and #2) and his stool looked normal to me. Then we came inside and started to play with his rope. After about five minutes of playing I got up to get something and he heaed and threw up quite a bit. It looked like quite a bit of undigested food was in the mix. About thirty minutes after that he threw up a little bit more, about the same amount that he threw up this morning. Anybody have any suggestions? It could be the new food I was transitioning him to but I'm not positive.

Both of mine are what I call"throw-upers" Razz Mya heaves (it still freaks me out) and then throws up yellow bile. Yuck. I know that's normal in dogs though. Kody throws up sometimes too. Sometimes it's just nasty stomach goo and sometimes it has chunks of food. This is not all of the time, but it does happen.

I don't know if it's the new food or not, but Kody would throw up more when he was a puppy. Maybe he got excited while playing and it made him sick? How much food are you giving him?

I really don't have much advise, but if he keeps doing this tomorrow or the next day I would call the vet to see what they say.

Poor Dakota, hope he feels better!

Thanks so much Melissa! I feed him about a cup in the morning, half a cup for lunch, and a cup for dinner. He usually eats most of it and he's a dog that eats what he needs and thats it

Brett, you said Dakota devoured the food? Try putting a ball in the bowl to slow him down and see if this helps at all.

Melissa, I read somewhere that if a dog throws up yellow bile somewhat consistently, it can be fixed by feeding smaller more frequent meals. maybe I read that on here, I can't remember... Smile

Edit: I googled this so I didn't give wrong information...I knew I read it somewhere!

Throwing up a lot of undigested food is not normal, but "hunger pukes" which consist of a frothy yellow bile are. If he's throwing up a lot of his food, it could point to a more serious problem. Monitor him for the next few hours. If he is still throwing up in the morning, I would take him to the vet.

However, as I always say, a phone call is free. If you are concerned, call your vet and speak with a professional Smile

It wasn't a TON of undigested food, but I could identify five or six pieces of food that were still whole, like he swallowed them whole or something. I just fed him again. This time it was only about 3/4 of a cup for dinner. I didn't put the TOTW food in there this time either. He ate it pretty quick this time too. I'll try putting a ball in there tomorrow if he keeps eating so fast. Hopefully this stops. He's consistently wanting to play right now after eating, but I won't let him because I don't want him to throw up what he just ate right after he ate it. I'll keep an eye on hime for sure. Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm just a worried parent I think! He's still the same he's always been with the exception of the throwing up.
