So, here's the scoop. Delilah got spayed on Friday. She is doing very well, but after walks she is drink EXCESSIVELY...to the point where she spits up afterwards. She didn't do this before, do you think perhaps shes just being over zealous.

I'm such a worrier. Crying or Very sad

She could be just dehydrated, but I would give the vet a call if it persists. Considering that she was just spayed, it's possible she got a UTI or bladder infection. Does she have to go out more often or is she loosing bladder control?

Welcome to being a husky owner, lol.

I would just keep an eye on her. She's probably just dehydrated from the surgery. Hailey drinks and gags all the time. Some dogs are just not lady-like Razz

Did she get any pain meds? Or any other meds? They may make her thirsty...Chili's on prednisone for a rash and he's been drinkin' (and peein') up a storm!

This is what I call excessive drinking:

That picture is priceless! lmao

As for the excessive drinking...if it worries you call the vet. I know certain meds can make them extra thirsty.

I'm a major worry wart with my 2 so you're not a lone! I'd call the the vet and ask. Can't hurt and it will easy your mind.

Oh, and I totally live by that quote from your signature =) I saw a bumper sticker which said "If my dog doesn't like you then neither do I". I need to find it! LOL

FLASHBACK............. Do Chili a favor and keep an eye on that rash if its gone quit the prednisone (steroid). Mylo had the same reaction to it that Chili is going thru to the point of having to wake me up every hour or less to be let out. He went thru hell and back with that stuff and I called the vet to see if it would be okay to stop. Plus after I discontinued the effects of it lingered for many many months afterward. It would have to be a life or death situation before I'll ever allow any of my dogs on that stuff again.

(I love the excessive drinking photo though makes me laugh every time I see it.)

Thanks, Len! He's tapering off now - it was full pills for 5 days, 1/2 pill for 5 days and now 1/2 pill every other day. Rash looks good now. The getting up every 3 hours at night is training for an eventual baby. OMG - so tired! How long was Mylo on it?

Glad you like the pic! Smile hehe I laugh every time I see it too! Laughing

Sorry for the threadjack! Smile

He was on it for just a few days when I felt the panic of his situation and knew I had to check in with the vet. I would have loved every 3 hours. Can't blame the vet its like a people situation and you never know who will have a bad reaction to certain meds.
