2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.

Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Female marking? 15164610

Hello! Im new to the forum so im tryinf this out hope it works. Im a new husky owner shes 9 weeks. Havent had any bathroom issues. Suddenly after my wife cleand the floor last week she seems to be marking. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to curb this behavior? Ive since mopped the floor with vinegar to try and get rid of any previous smells. Thanks for any tips! -doug

Try Nature's Miracle, an enzymatic cleaner that removes all traces of odor so dogs do not get the scent to remark. Also, With a puppy, tethering to you or crating when you are not able to 100% supervise helps to prevent accidents, chewing...all sorts of undesireable behavior. Puppies should earn their freedom.

I was reading to never use her cage as a punishment. From your comments I feel like you disagree?

Using the crate as punishment for this sort of thing would be you reprimanding her for peeing on the floor then immediately putting her in the crate after. Putting her in the crate when you can't watch her is just a preventative measure. To really stop this sort of thing you need to deep clean the smell out so she doesn't constantly think that spot is now and forever a bathroom and make sure your timing with the correction when she tries to go inside is spot on, which means you gotta never let her out of your sight so the instant she starts to squat you can interrupt her so she has no doubt as to what she is doing wrong.

No - I am not suggesting you put her in AFTER she pees on the floor.  I am suggesting you be pro-active, either keep her tethered to you so you can scoop her up and run outside if she shows ANY inclination to pee OR, if you are busy or not at home and cannot responds instantaneously, then she should be in the crate.  No unlimited freedom in the house until she learns her manners.

EDIT: Yup. What Jenn says lol!
