PostSubject: White dot/speck on eye..   White dot/speck on eye.. EmptyWed Aug 19, 2015 2:50 pm

Mylo has been having a small white dot on his left eye on the iris ever since we could remember. I remember asking the vet to take a look at it but she didn't think it was of a concern. That was when he was younger, like 4 months I think. Right now he's 10 months old and I'm thinking of getting this looked at specifically when he's around a year old.

So here are some pics

Here's Mylo this morning enjoying his antler

What do you guys think? I hope it's not what I think it is..

looks strange almost like Corneal Dystrophy, i did find a link but not sure. its a very scary thing to think about.

i hope the its not that. i would look into taking him to a eye specialist just to be sure.

i dose look like a very small speck of blue.

I'm obviously no expert, but could it be parti eye? That's what I would think it is, especially considering he's had it his whole life. It could just be a very minor parti eye.
Then again, as I said I am no expert, so if someone else thinks it's a disease, I would believe them over me.

Omg my worst case scenario was juvenile cataracts..but now there's something else it could be? "Corneal Dystrophy". Thanks for the link though! I didn't know about that.

@tyler.jenkins.125 my girlfriend has always thought it was a partial parti eye too.

Oh and idk if it matters to mention but Mylos momma had 1 blue eye and the other one was a parti eye.

I'm leaning strongly toward parti eye. Now that you say his mom had a parti, it just makes me lean towards that even more.

From what I've read, this doesn't seem like it could be cataracts because it would turn grey, not blue. Every dog I've seen with cataracts have a smokey color to them. It can either be genetic or caused by old age, and since Mylo is not even a year old, we can rule out old age. I would contact your breeder and ask about cataracts in past dogs or if either of the parents suffered from them. I personally don't think that's what it is, but I am not a vet by any standards, nor do I have past experiences to speak on considering I'm only twenty and this is my first dog.

I would probably watch it, and if it starts to get bigger or his eye becomes hazey, I would take him to the eye specialist; however, If it is just parti eye, it would stink to pay all that money for nothing. (At least money doesn't grow on trees here in indiana. lol! )

If it was cataracts, you'd see it starting over the pupil, not the iris.

@MGoBlue Great to know it's not cataracts!

@RedFlashFire05 it would be very interesting if it really is just a speck of blue. I've never seen something like that. I should search up partial or minor parti eyes or something

Honestly Dave, I couldn't tell which white speck it was so I didn't say anything, haha, but if it's the one with the blue, I do think it may have been the start of a parti eye. Kohdi has one parti eye and the other was starting as well, but stopped, there isn't a speck like in Mylo but it has that same kind of *look* to it, it's hard to explain but yeah, it very well could be a parti eye was starting and then stopped.

To me it looks like a white speck but I guess it's a icy blue speck? And yeah I should've been more specific about the area of the speck...right on the edge of his eye on the brown part or the iris.
A parti eye that started but stopped woah that would be a very unique thing!

Nah, I think you were good dude, everyone else seemed to get where the speck is, LOL

Yeah, a pretty unique thing...kinda like a wooly that started and then stopped is a pretty unique thing Razz I'm playin', I just really really thought Mylo was going to be a wooly Wink but yeah, when I picked up Kohdi from the breeder, she even said his other eye has been changing still and may become a parti eye like the other, I could see what she meant too, but it never did.
