2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Need info on after treatment of tapeworms.. Empty
PostSubject: Need info on after treatment of tapeworms..   Need info on after treatment of tapeworms.. EmptySat Jul 05, 2014 1:38 pm

June was the worst month ever, so glad it's over with. Joined this forum after reading posts, lurking if you will for awhile and discovered what a knowledgeable group of people here. So I really hope some of you got some ideas, because I've searched posts and can't find anything that describes my girl.

So to start, Miya was attacked by a pitt/mix beginning of June, sore neck but otherwise fine, little shook up. Middle of the month she goes into "false heat", when she was spayed they found only one ovary and told us it may "appear" later and go into heat just can't get pregnant.

Then the last weekend of June we see the dreaded tapeworm. Now all this time, I thought her lack of appetite and lack of energy was because of the attack and heat and the Texas heat. We saw the worm on Sunday and we treated her with drontal xl Monday at noon time. She pretty much slept all day Monday, she did not suffer from diarrhea, and her appetite slowly came back. Yesterday her appetite was awesome, everything seems back to normal, if not better than ever. The problem is she still has no energy, she'd rather sniff the property, than to walk with us, play tugs, or ball. Nothing but sniff around, and happy to go back inside and sit with us.

So do you all think that maybe she had worms longer than we suspect and that the combination of these events happening so quickly is the problem? She will be 20 months old tomorrow, so I consider her a puppy still. The last problem is our vet, there are four vets in town, all at one place, but they will choose to see a horse, cow, goat or sheep over a cat or dog. Only one of the four vets likes to see Miya, and that's after she gave him a fat lip, but this particular vet is the best one of the four as well. If we switch vets we go from a twenty minute ride, to a forty or more minute ride. Any suggestions would kindly be appreciated

Forgot to mention one last thing, on Thursday we stopped at Miya's boyfriends house, they happily played with eachother, Zeke is intact still, and he kept sniffing her and when she went pee, so unlady like lol, he immediately sniffed where she went. Not sure if he knew she had worms earlier in the week , or if it was from her "false" heat.
Any ideas?

Thanks, Renee
