So I keep asking people what's up, but I can't figure it out! My puppy Nanook was red when we got him, but his coat seems to gradually be turning an odd dusty dust bunny type color as he gets older. He's ten weeks old now, he'll bee 11 this weekend, and i'm noticing black/gray guard hairs showing up all over his back, like the more white he sheds the more gray hairs i find. I know he's a dog and not a chameleon, but is it possible he may grow into a gray dog? His mom is gray and his dad is orangish red. If he turned gray that would be amazing i just gotta know! Very Happy

Huskies change coat colors in the summer and winter. It sounds like your husky may have a darker coat in the winter. I don't think he'll change completely gray, but he may get a dark line along his back.

He'll probably switch back and forth between red and a dark red/brown color. Beautiful pup btw!

I would be inclined to disagree with your vet- only because your boy has liver pigment and the other dog is black pigmented. Liver pigment means your dog is red factored, the black is a gray factor. What you are likely seeing is what I have seen in my last 3 puppies, as they aged the developed a more 'diluted' color as they grew, it was like the color got spread apart as the body expanded, when the body rested growing the color started to come back in.

Thats funny Tika went the opposite, she was a lot paler reddish when she was a baby (she's liver colored as well) and has darkened a lot into a gorgeous sable color.
