| Tiff (Kya, Rio, & Novas mom) being awesome sent me this link for $1 bully sticks on PetFlow and I of course was like WOOHOO! Having 3 furbabies I spend $20 on bully sticks that last 20min :\
Honestly, I didn't really read that they were from Brazil. I just automatically look for China. The guy that I get their food from pointed out to make sure that they were good quality and that freaked me out. I've googled and googled, but nothing negative is coming up about bully sticks from Brazil. What do you guys think? I already gave them one each!

Edit: I always stick to US based products, but I guess this awesome price made me a little crazy..lol

| I managed to find this on the FB page for SitStay... - Quote :
- I do like meat from Brazil, they have stricter regulations than the US does. I love the free range meat grown without antibiotics and hormones which is hard to find in the US. Some US growers don’t use antibiotics and hormones but there aren’t enough of them yet to meet the demand for this type of meat. Brazil, and even Argentina, have more open pasture so it’s easier for them to produce the free range kind of meat we like. The majority of the US meat growers use feedlots to fatten their cattle and there’s nothing wrong with that but they sometimes have to use antibiotics to ward off disease in crowded conditions. We carry their bully sticks, too. I do like US raised beef, I’m from Nebraska, it’s known as God’s Own Cow Country. We’ve had the Brazil raised Free Ranger bully sticks for a long time at SitStay. No problems and we knew there wouldn’t be. We test and try everything after we research it completely. It doesn’t get into our store if it doesn’t meet our high standards. The SitStay Dogs love all the Free Rangers, Bully Sticks, and Macho Sticks in the Store.
That's the meat, not necessarily the pizzle, though. Any other thoughts or ideas? |

| It does seem to say at the end of the quote from sitstay that they have had bully sticks from brazil and they haven't had any problems. My understanding was that bully sticks are pizzle, unless I'm mixing the two up?
Meat from Argentina and Brazil is pretty dang good though. My favorite filet I've ever eaten was from some free range cow in Argentina. So good.

I could be WAY OFF HERE as I'm not sure. But I think the Pizzle sticks have raw hide in them. Or at least thats what I think they are. There is a "newer" treat that appeared at our pet food supply store that was super long and looked like a dried out peperoni stick, albeit slightly opaque. When I asked about them I was told: "They are Bully sticks but infused with rawhide". I think she called them pizzle sticks.... If not I'm way off and sorry ~Chris~ _________________ Is this about the cake problem? What's the matter with you mathematicians, cake is never a problem. - Professor Lazlo

| Bully sticks are made from bull penis. From my understanding, pizzle is just another word for penis.

| Pizzle is just another world for penis of the bull, there is no rawhide involved. the sticks you are thinking of are just rawhide/byproduct sticks...i see them at our local mom and pop store too. I wouldn't hesitate feeding the bully sticks. just as I don't typically hesitate feeding lamb from New Zealand. It just depends on the source. I stay away from Asian sourced meats and products. |

| It is an awesome deal! Which is why I just went for it!
Coincidentally Kody had HORRIBLE diarrhea today when we got home from work (see today’s hijack). Think it was the bully sticks? Hmmm! The girls are fine though…

| Isn't Kody your sensitive boy? Has he had bully sticks before? If not, it could be from the bully sticks if that was the only thing 'new' you gave in the last 24 hours or so.
Storm likes bully sticks but as much as his tummy can handle a lot of foods, he goes really soft on bully sticks and Ginger snubs them. So bully sticks (or trachea) are no go with my two.

Maybe they're more rich then normal bully sticks? I gave my dogs different knuckle bones, but apparently the marrow in them was more rich then the normal ones I buy. My dogs were all sick the next day |

Yep, he's the sensitive one! He's had bully sticks though. Maybe once a week or so. Never had any issues. Hmmm |

| One of mine has a sensitive stomach too, so I'll keep an eye out on him eating the bully sticks as well. |

| Hey Melissa & Everybody!
We've been longtime Husky owners and for the past few years have bought bully sticks/pizzle (my understand is that they're the same thing) from this online retailer called www.bestbullysticks.com. They get theirs from free-range, grass-fed Brazilian beef and apparently it's some of the best meat in the world. And they don't add anything to them. Lacota really loves all of them and she gets one a day. And she has super clean teeth.
We don't do rawhide or any of that stuff just because it's not really safe. From BestBullySticks we get pretty large bully sticks or the odor free ones, or even the braided ones--they're a bit more of a challenge. They're always having sales and stuff, too. |

| Odor-free bully sticks are the best. You get the best of both worlds. A happy occupied dog and a house that doesn't smell like @$$. Just put in an order yesterday at bestbullysticks.com |
