1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

I have been itching for something to do with Neo since we got him, but can not seem to come across anything. Theres no hiking trails around, any worth anything anyways. I was thinking flyball or agility, but the closest places that do that kind of things are about 30 miles away from us. I just want him to have fun, and me too! Any Ideas? He will be two in january, surely he is not too old to start training to do something?

Have you thought about training to do therapy dog work. It has opened up a whole canine network for us with tons of events going on all of the time. Just visiting the nursing homes makes Frankie happy.
I know some of the other Therapy dog volunteer teams are involved with Dog Scouts. It is suppose to be like boy scouts but for dogs. Looks like tons of fun. I just can't get involved in anything else right now so I haven't looked into it further.

As for more active things, we did dock diving for a little while. That was fun. Agility is next on our list since Frankie discovered he could jump and climb the fence I thought he could practice his skills in a more productive manner.

Dog Scouts looks like so much fun!!! I'd totally consider starting a troop in NC (we have none) but I'd probably fail at it. I am having enough trouble being webmaster of a club through the college! But then again that is mostly because the club management people are changing things up on us. I don't know...I think it'd be so fun but I am not really the leader type. And with work and school I don't really have much time. Bummer. Sad

I looked into the bikejoring.... this is going to be a lot of work! First I need to train Neo to listen to commands. He is very well mannered, when hes inside, outside, its a whole different story. I was thinking it would take a few months to teach him to act right on the bike, is that a good estimate? And really, how do you teach a dog to gee and haw? Ive never had to do this before. I also need a bicycle, wich I havnt rode one in proboly 15 years. A good pulling harness, one of those attachment thingys(excuse my ignorance), and some booties for his feet. Ive been reading on bikejoring, and was wondering about having him attatched to the bike, and having his collar on for me to have another lead to grab onto in case something goes wrong, but I didnt see anything on this. Ahh this is going to be a lot of work, but it looks like soo much fun!

Well, I decided against the bikejoring. I have decided I want to do canicross instead. I looked for a waist leash, and decided to redneck engineer one. Brad bought me a police duty belt, and with some added carebinners(so?), makes a perfect belt.I've ran with Neo a few.times already, and he.is a natural. I rolled my ankle the last trip so now I'm sporting a nice brace. Anyone heard of the website meetup.com? I thought about organizing a.group to find.people interested in canicross so I can have.some running buddies. Not sure how safe getting strangers together would be though!

Yep, I've been in several Meetup.com groups. It's a great resource but it does cost (at least it used to). All the meet ups we've ever been to have always been in public locations during daylight hours so they were always pretty safe.
