Alright. This is not a medical issue per se, but it is a health thing... I've been reading that some dogs have a lot of hair between their toes and that makes it difficult for them to maintain traction on the tile. Most of these articles are telling me that shaving the toe hair will help with the traction and not harm them in any way. Is this true? Is this something I should be considering since most of the house is tile?

we have title down stairs, too. i usually trim it short enough to still have hair just in case he get gum stuck in this feet, its happen a few times so i have started leaving them a bit longer then i would like. trimming his feet hair helps quite a bit when his feet are wet that's when i notice it the most. it is very noticeable when i skip a week he slides so much.

I've thought about it with my wooly boy. But then we play "catch me if you can." He's 7 years old, a large bouncy husky. I'm 68 years old, a small, arthritic old lady. You do the math lol!

@amymeme, you have raised a question in my mind now. If your husky is 7 years old, do they ever slow down? Baby is only 1 year old at the moment and a total nut job. LOL.

I trim his paws Fur. It helps with mud getting stuck on paw fur and I think it helps prevent him bringing more dirt than necessary into home. I’m not sure it helps much with preventing slipping on tile.

Spider slows down in the middle of the day. But squirt is the Energizer bunny. She is so high energy when shes out she would be great for towing me but she will be 8 on 9/11 and i think it would be too much for her.

Trimmingwise i clip squirts back legs once a year at the same appointment she gets her shots and exam and nails done. We have to knock her almost out for that. Ironically she loves getting a bath.

I did trim the paw fur on both the girls a few years ago and noticed they got cold faster so i stopped trimming it.

When I can manage it, Ami gets the long stuff between his pads trimmed. He's a wooly and gets horrific snow/ice/mud balls everywhere. The ones on his legs and belly are just a mess and mat his fur. But the ones between his toes hurt him, make him limp and whimper so I try to trim what I can. Actually got one last night before he bolted!

With squirt its mats behind the ears and on the belly and dreadlocks on her back legs. She gets snowballs pretty bad bit never bother her. Really the only thing that bothers squirt is spider, the vet, and grooming her back end.
