Anyone who knows this? I need some feedbacks especially from a husky owner.

Got this from the site above :

Product Summary:

In-Diet Supplement for Dogs helps eliminate and prevent summer eczema, bare spots, dry skin, itching, scratching, nervousness and lethargy. A regular maintenance diet has been shown to increase resistance to disease and stress year round.

Directions: Add nuggets to food daily or give as a treat. Give one nugget for each 5 pounds of body weight.

Ingredients: Soybean lecithin, defatted wheat germ flour, corn meal, raw wheat germ, soy protein concentrate, soy flour beef and bone meal, animal fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), cod liver oil, powdered cane molasses, glycerine, garlic, calcium pantothenate, iron and zinc oxides, salt. Vitamin supplements: riboflavin, A, D3, E, B1, B12. Analysis: Crude protein 17 percent min., crude fat 27 percent min., crude fiber 2.5 percent max., moisture 8 percent max., ash 12 percent.

*** I'm a little bit worried because of the ingredients. Comes with soy, corn, wheat. Too confusing. scratch

Doesn't sound like the best supplement to me after looking at the ingredients. Why are you wanting to use a supplement? I'm sure Val will chime in since she's done so much research on the subject. Nupro makes good supplements.

What do you want to know, Jason?

I've never heard of the supplement but just from looking at the ingredients, I would not recommend that one.

Is there a particular reason you are looking for a supplement? I.e. Is there something specific that you want to correct via a supplement or are just wanting to enhance her diet with a supplement?

There are much better supplements than that on the market, actually a good majority of supplements out there marketed for pets are complete junk IMO.

I don't know what supplements you have available to you in the Philippines but I would recommend Nupro and Missing Link. Both are excellent general supplements that can help with allergies, digestion, skin, coat, and in some formulas have joint support as well. Both come in a powder form that you can easily sprinkle over or mix into your dogs food.

I personally use Nupro Silver with Joint Support for my dogs. I prefer the ingredients in Nupro over those in Missing Link, but both are excellent products that I highly recommend to fill in the gaps and compliment any diet whether you feed raw, home cooked, dehydrated/freeze dried, kibble, or canned.

Quoted from their website on the regular Nupro (Gold) Dog formula:
Quote :
NUPRO's quality ingredients are as follows:

DESICCATED LIVER:The ultimate in palatability!
The fresh, natural flavor of real liver is wonderful for the finicky eater! Supplies iron and B vitamins.
Just add water to make a Grrreat Gravy that Dogs Crave!

NORWEGIAN KELP:A natural seaweed - A rich source of trace minerals including iodine, used for proper glandular function and metabolism. An excellent source of vitamins A, B1, B2, C, and E. These vitamins are beneficial for maintaining proper health and are responsible for the growth of bones, a healthy heart rate, a sound central nervous system, and helping muscles stay firm and strong. Norwegian kelp grows deep in the ocean, mostly in cold waters, so it contains valuable nutrients from the ocean floor. Aside from nourishing the glands, it is beneficial for overall good health. Supports healthy pigmentation and coat highlights.

AMINO ACIDS & ENZYMES:A wide array of naturally available Amino Acids and Enzymes helps the body to maintain healthy hormonal balances and to fortify a resilient Immune System.

IMPORTED YEAST CULTURE:Helps maintain a full and healthy coat which may minimize the occurrence of excessive shedding and itchy, dry skin. Provides proteins, zinc and biotin. Best source of B vitamins. Most companies use cheaper brewers yeast which can be a combination of hops, corn, grains, wheat, etc., whatever comes from the brewery. Many animals have grain allergies, and brewers yeast may further aggravate an allergy condition. With nutritional yeast cultures, grown on sugar beets, a veggie source, NO grains are present at all. Something to think about when reading ingredient labels.

FLAXSEED :Provides essential omega fatty acids. Most absorbable vegetable fatty acid for the canine. Rich in omega 3 fatty acids, alpha-linolenic acid, fiber and lignans. Helps maintain healthy, shiny fur and soft skin.

LECITHIN: A rich source of choline, required by the body to make acetylcholine, is a neurotransmitter essential for normal healthy nerve and brain function. Supports healthy liver function.

GARLIC CONCENTRATE:Wonderful ingredient that does so much for the body. Garlic contains allicin, a powerful antioxidant. Supports a healthy immune and cardiovascular system.

LACTOBACILLUS ACIDOPHILUS:Promotes healthy digestion which may reduce the occurrence of flatulence. Because NUPRO is in a powdered form and not from concentrate, it is easily assimilated into the system and digested with the dog’s food. There is no sense in giving an animal this superior product if they don’t digest it properly. Also promotes friendly bacteria in intestinal tract.

CALCIUM CITRATE: Calcium is best absorbed in an acidic environment, hence calcium citrate is the best absorbed supplemental form of calcium---it does not require extra stomach acid for absorption. Intended to provide nutritive support for healthy bones, teeth and nerve function.

And the ingredients quoted from Missing Links website on their regular Canine formula:
Quote :
Missing Link Canine Ingredients . . .
Flaxseed, Rice Bran, Primary Dried Yeast, Cane Molasses, Sunflower Seed, Freeze Dried Beef Liver, Dehydrated Alfalfa Meal, Dried Carrot, Ground Beef Bone*, Dried Fish Solubles, Ground Barley Grass, Dried Kelp, Freeze Dried Oyster, Zinc Monomethionine, Lecithin, Chromium Yeast, Selenium Yeast, Niacin (Vitamin B3), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Garlic, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Thiamine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B1), Folic Acid, and Vitamin B12 Supplement.

In-Diet Supplement..? Empty
PostSubject: Re: In-Diet Supplement..?   In-Diet Supplement..? EmptyWed Mar 09, 2011 7:34 am

The A1 All Pets, Alpha Dog supplement looks a million times better than the first one you posted. I am not familiar with it either but from just a quick glance at the ingredients it looks decent. However my questions start when you consider the ingredients being used because some of them have not been shown to be of benefit to dogs which begs the question, why is it in there?

I would ask the question again, why is it that you want to supplement? There are other supplements that you can buy if you want to address a specific issues like the skin and coat. Is your puppies diet lacking in a way that you feel it is necessary to add a general supplement?

The second one looks a lot better than the first but I just don't have the time to look up every single ingredient and just from looking up a couple I am already noticing that there is nothing to back up the claims that they will benefit dogs in any way which makes you wonder. I would suggest you do more research of your own on the different ingredients in the supplement to see what you find out about it and whether or not you think it is worth it for you to buy and give to Darla.

I am all for supplementing, but I am also of the mindset that too much of a good thing is a bad thing and that over-supplementation can be worse than not supplementing at all. I'm not saying the Alpha Dog supplement is good or bad, I just can't in good conscience say yay or nay to a product I don't know enough about and that doesn't have enough evidence to back it up.

PostSubject: Re: In-Diet Supplement..?   In-Diet Supplement..? EmptySat Nov 05, 2016 9:00 am

I am using IN diet and, so far, I am very satisfied with the results it has given. We have Nupro here in our country, but IN Diet is the most populart and top selling supplement here. Also, most vets here recommend IN Diet than Nupro. BUT they recommend IN diet for people who have peoblems with their dogs coats and skin, or if they want to focus on the coat ans skin health + overall health. Vets here recommend Nupro if you want your dog to get a bigger appetite and also the overall health of your dog.
