2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Zoe, some dogs 'get it' quicker than others.   I stayed out of this because my opinion in one matter varies from another suggestion - but shoot, here goes. Bear in mind that this is my opinion ...

Potty time is not play time!!  If you go outside to play and they go potty, great.  But what you want is for Zeus to realize that when you say 'go potty' that's what you mean or when he tells you he wants to go potty, that's what you're interrupting you very busy schedule Smile for him to do.  I don't think there's anything worse than standing in the rain with a dog who told you they wanted out - only to find that they want to play!

Pick yourself a spot and always the same spot, where you want Zeus to go and when it's potty time, go there, wait for him to 'do his thing', praise him and then go back inside - even if he wants to play.
If he (and you) really want to play you can go back out in 5 minutes and play.

It's definitely not playtime in this weather! Going through some storms. We took him outside and he's just found his own spot really.

Al, the memories you bring up. There was a neighbor across the corner... with a miniature dachshund. I'd be walking Ami or out for his late night pee. She'd be out, too. How do I know? Cause she'd be screeching at the top of her ample lungs. "Go potty" "GO POTTY!" GO POTTYNOW sometimes for up to a half hour.

She's moved, now. Much quieter.

Ah, but you see, that's where her problem was ... it was a Dachshund so if she's said "gehen Töpfchen" (at least according to Google Translate) everything would have come out all right in the end.  (( oooohhhh, boo, hisss!! I can't even stand myself with that one!!! ))

You've got the warm weather up there and I've got a beautiful day - if the blasted wind would ever die down!  It's been in the high 70's / low 80's all day today with 35mph+ gusting to over 60! Shoot, my dogs don't even want to go out in this wind!

@Artic_wind's talking about his weather and @Zoeyvonne the new lady from Scotland's talking about her wet weather - is this a messed up winter (( winter?!?!?! )) or what.

We can't see the mountains for all the dust in the air - someone once said "If it'd settle out, you could plant a garden in that!" and believe me, today I know what he meant!  There's an old (very old) trailer out back of the house; all that's left of it is the metal shell and it's been rolling around - the wind's coming out of the south west so I parked my jeep on the front of the house so that if the old trailer shell rolls around far enough at least the Jeep won't get hit.

Was it just a week / 10 days ago that we had snow warning and 7" of snow north of us???  Gotta love El Niño!! (( Blame it on El Niño!!!! ))
