This reminded me of my and my wife. My wife's expectations were just like your partners. On top of that we had our daughter just as we got our pup. I'm in the military and so I had to deploy two months after we got Parker two months after my daughter was born. So you can imagine my wife's frustration. She knew how much I loved the dog and she finally came around, that and it helped that she saw how much my friend's wife is with their dogs and the bond they had. So long story short she's so happy now that Parker is finally starting to listen to her and she loves him now. A relationship is just about compromises so if he won't come around and doesn't put in an effort then maybe he should hit the highway lol
