Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Do your animals react strangely to weather? I've heard many stories of animals acting strangely right before natural events, like earthquakes. Some dogs are scared of thunderstorms...I have a friend who has a dog that hides in the fireplace during thunderstorms.

Today we had a tornado touch down a county away from where I currently live and a friend posted a video of it on facebook. As I was watching the video Shaqua took an interest too. I'm still laughing at the way she kept turning her head and getting closer. Smile

(I know I posted this in her scrapbook too, but I felt this could be an interesting discussion)

Thats too cute. It was raining extremely hard here today and i noticed mine kept going and looking at the fireplace for about 5 minutes, the rain was hitting the metal at the top and making a tinking noise. She also is fascinated by windchimes.

You should get a wind chime and set it up at the level she can reach and see what mischief goes afoot! LOL

Sheba goes nuckin futs a couple of days before it rains. Without fail, she has done this every single time. The first time she did it, it was horrible. I had no idea why she was flipping out and I was pulling my hair out..then it rained and she had the BIGGEST smile on her face and never wanted to come inside. The second time she did it, I thought "no way..". So now I am prepared for it lol.

I never wanted to deal with a dog that flipped out during storms, so as soon as I brought my girls home, we would sit outside on the front porch when it rained. When it thunder stormed, I would bring treats and stuff them with treats. Worked like a charm.

Mine are so impartial to the weather. Hot, cold, rain, hail, fog...they really could care less.

Mine just bites me when it weathers outside. Very Happy Sun, rain, cloud cover, temperature change. Just bites.

My lab would be very clingy a day before a storm. Then when the storm hit....windy or thunder he would fit his 150lb body under my bed...lol...he would shake so bad the bed literally vibrated. But just rain...he loved, it energized him.
So far Nanook doesn't seem to mind any of it. He does love to sit at the screen door and watch the rain.
