Today we took our little man out for a long walk since we haven't taken him for a ling walk since his neutering last week. Also did some loose lease walking training. So here we are about four blocks from the house when this little Maltese runs up from behind a truck and starts barking and diving at Loki. Of course Loki thinks he wants to play and starts jumping. The dog owner comes running from the backyard and grabs his dog and mumbles a sorry. So no big deal here the owner was able to get his dog no injuries happen. 2 blocks later we walk pass a brown house three houses layer this little brown spaniel mix coming running up behind us. I yell Kevin to keep Loki focused on his training and he does. Loki ignored the dog. Suddenly we hear from behind us. Wait I'm coming for my dog. Up runs this lady for the dog. The dog immediately runs away. I told Kevin to keeps Loki occupied so he wouldn't try to get at the dog as I tried to assist in the dogs capture. I try to balm the dog down and offer it some chicken. It starts to come but then theowner chases thrdog toward Loki. The dog proceeds to snarl and growl and bite Loki. Kevin kicked the dog and owner was pissed. Stated Kevin didn't need to do that. Kevin yelled look at my dog nose. Sure enough Loki had a small bite mark with blood on his nose. The lady grabbed her dog said sorry and was about to leave when Kevin said maybe u should keep your dog on a lease in your yard so this doesn't happen again. We got the look of death from her. My little man was not so excited on the way home. 2 attacks in 1 walk. Got home and cleaned up his nose it looked worse then it was but still not s great experience. I don't understand why owners of little dog think it is ok for them to just let their dogs roam the neighborhood or not secure them in a safe place. It isn't that hard. Sorry thanks for letting me rant

I'm so sorry. I hope he's okay! I don't understand it either. At my apartment, people do that all the time. We went to go walk Alki last night and this larger dog ran up and started growling. Her hair was standing up on her back. I tried to scare her of and she was so jumpy! Then I heard her owners call, looked around the corner and they were sittin on the steps, smoking. If I hadn't have picked him up when I did, I'm sure it would have been worse. People get too lazy to keep a leash on their dog and trust it to mind when called. It's just so upsetting.

This is the main reason I NEVER walk Lycus in my neighborhood. The amount of unleashed aggressive dogs is ridiculous here.

We live out in the 'country', very rural....our neighbors think WE'RE the horrible ones since we have a large fenced yard and kennel runs for the dogs....we are apparently 'robbing' them of their freedom...well I've seen plenty of dogs dead on the road and breath a sigh of relief it's not mine. I could not take the heartbreak that would cause. I just cant wrap my head around the mentality of letting dogs roam unchecked. I had a neighbor's chow-chow attack my horse and I got bucked off, broken nose, chin, cheek bone....and had to catch my horse. Ugh people....Rant over

If another dog off leash came and bit your dog I would say you should report it to animal control. The first offense won't cause the dog to be taken, but it might be a wake up call for the owner.

My parents live in the country (they don't have neighbors). They have 7 acres and they let the dogs run free. They just know not to get anywhere near the road. Haha. I just don't understand how people could do that closer to the city though.

Can't do that with Huskies, which is why we have the fence. And though we have 10 acres, there are still neighbors, just not as close as a subdivision-

Oh yeah. I wouldn't do it with huskies. My parents have a corgi and a lab mix.

The issue we have here is the crappy fences. Its not necessarily the owners fault that the dogs get lose but the fences aren't the best and dogs tend to slip right under them. We had a yorkie do that and I tried to catch her because she ran right into the road and her owner didn't even come get her til a car was coming down the road at her. People just think that because there's a fence the dog can't get out and they are SOOO wrong.

We live in a city neighborhood with a leash law. It drives me nuts when people insist on walking their dogs off leash. Especially aggressive dogs. Two nights ago a man was walking a large pit bull dog without a leash just yelling at the dog .... You better not leave my side. It made my heart race. I've seen this situation before and the dog came after us. We were saved from attack because the dog got bumped by a car. I've never in my life been happy that a dog got hit by a car. I've never been the same since this day either. I think that I'm overly afraid of loose dogs and people walking dogs that I think they don't have control and will drop the leash. Just when I think I've relaxed, something reinstalls the unrational fear.

Sheba was attacked by an unleashed devil of a rat terrier when she was a baby. She now has leash aggression up the ying yang. We have been doing a LOT of work on it and she got better.. UNTIL we got attacked again. I hate living where I do. It happens almost every week. Unfortunately we have no other choice but to walk. Now I carry Animal Shield (from PetSmart). Works like a charm.

Treeman Andy, I plan on calling when I get off work today so I can drive by the house and get the address. Should have got it that day but was so upset. Thing is will Kevin get in trouble for kicking her dog? We have walked that path a lot of times and only seen 2 corgis, this is the first time we saw the maltese and the spaniel mix. Lucky Loki is ok and is doing fine and played with our neighbor's hound dog today according to my fiance so no aggression to other dogs. He should also have a surprise today too. A box from bestbullysticks.com is coming in. I do spoil him.
