LOL...the never ending shedding. Shadow will walk past the couch, leaving massive clumps of fur on everything!
The brushing and vacuuming never ends!

I just got my husky. He is 4 months old, I never dealt with a husky blow per say(I have seen them for by trade I am a dog groomer and "De-shedded many of them) I owned a German Shep about 6 years ago and I must say from the time I got her at 4 month all she did was shed all year round there where balls of "Tumble weed" hair everywhere, far far worse than Thunder is now.

I think it's almost a rite of passage as a Husky owner when you experiance that first coat blow. Carolina is pretty much in the middle of hers. I spent a good two hours on saturaday and got most of her torso done. Though I have an odd and possibly obvious question, but do thier tails shed the undercoat as well?

OMG, Gunnersmatejmac's video is what I have to expect when Okami blows her coat? Good thing I got her a furminator! Now if only I could get her to brush herself with it... Razz

Is there like a specific age that they start "blowing" out their coat? Kota is almost 8 months old, and I have never noticed her shedding more than usual. I mean she sheds like crazy but its just a constant thing. I've also heard of them shedding their puppy coat, but like I said she never really seems to shed more at certain times then others.

She isn't nearly as fluffy as other huskies ive seen either. Her fur is really soft, and smooth. She has a ton of it but not like a typical fluffy husky... any idea?

Sarah, with our climate, my dogs start blowing coat in June and it lasts through Late August - Early Sept. They only blow once a year. I have a wooly and an average fluffy husky. Zoe, my wooly, is 8 and has been with us since she was 3 months old. I never noticed her shedding a puppy coat. We got her as a pup in March and she did her first coat blow about a year and half after we got her.

Sabaka's as well!! He sheds in sections! I don't think I remember that happening as obviously with our first husky as it happens with Sabaka. It starts on his back thighs, then the front, next goes the sides of his chest and belly, then the fur on the top of his spine, next wads of fur is released on his neck and lastly, his tail! I never notice must shedding of his belly itself. Our coat blow that seemed to last all Summer, like April just described, seems to be finally over!! Yay!!
