| Kya has NEVER had worms, even when we picked her up, she never had them. We started giving her the raw chicken, and I found worms in her stool today. I don't give her breed, or anything like that, and we have been to the valley, which is not a normal place we go, but she didn't eat anything down there.
Is this common or maybe just a fluke that it happened at the same time? |

| I would hazard a guess that it's not food related but more than likely a coincidence.
What do you mean when you say "I don't give her breed"? _________________ |

| Oops, I meant Bread. lol.
I thought it would probably be a fluke, it just freaked me out bc they are everywhere and like I said, she has never had worms.. I'm calling the vet to get medicine after their lunch break it over. |

| I doubt it's the meat causing the worms but I do freeze all my raw meat for at least 72 hours just as an added precaution. Where are you getting your meat from? If it's human grade I wouldn't worry, if not or it's wild or from a dirty or questionable environment then you might have more cause for concern.
Rio didn't come home with worms did she? My dogs are worked monthly with their heartworm pills so they almost never have worms. _________________ |

| I haven't seen any worms in Rio's poo but it is possible and yes, all of the dogs are on trifexus, so I wouldn't expect Kya to have worms.
I am going to go ahead and worm everyone just in case though.
The chicken I get is from the local grocers. It is human grade and I freeze all of it as well. |

| Okay, given all that my guess would be that it's just a fluke. _________________ |

| This is my one biggest fear about raw feeding. I want to start the raw diet, but I can't handle worms. |

| Unless the meat is of questionable quality or source, worms are not an issue. I have been feeding PMR for over 2 years with never any issues with any sort of internal parasites. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | PMR is Prey Model Raw which is defined as feeding a raw diet comprised of about 80% meat, 10% bone, and 10% organs (5% of which is liver.) Basically what a "prey animal" would be comprised of. The values are approximate and are fulfilled over time, not necessarily each meal. Some of my dogs need a bit more bone (closer to 15-20%) while some do better with 10%. Each dog is different. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |
