Peeing on bushes Empty
PostSubject: Peeing on bushes   Peeing on bushes EmptyTue Jan 10, 2012 3:58 pm

Hey guys so I'm having a problem with bronco peeing On all the bushes at our house making them all yellow. My dad is getting upset because every bush at our house is half yellow from his pee and it smells walking past his more used areas. My question is does anyone know how to make him stop using all the bushes and maybe just use one off to the side of the yard?? Thanks for your help.

I think Claudia can help you with that Wink
she has been working on keeping her grass green

i know we have talked on here about installing a pee post (i think claudia did) and to train them they can only pee on the post not anything else in the yard.
it could also have to do with his food and natural balance in his pee, Jack pees on the same trees/bushes on our walks and they all seem to be doing fine so maybe he pee is not so bad... we don't have grass in the back yard so its hard to tell.
you could also have the hose with you and spray the bush off with water every time he pees on it.

Ok....I don't know if this will help with bushes, but adding unfiltered apple cider vinegar to their food help with burn spots on our grass. The ACV you want to use would be the one with 'the mother in it'. It's a little 'cloudy' than the regular ACV, and if you check the bottom of the bottle, there's stuff that settles so you need to shake it well before using. ACV also has other health benefits to kidney and liver and it also helps balance out pH levels in urine. I was also told it an help repel parasites.

I've tried a pee post, but I supposed that also has a little training involved to get them used to it, or 'activate' the stuff in it that attracts your pup to pee on it. It didn't work for me, but then again, I just stuck it in the ground and didn't teach my 2 that's where they needed to pee.

A question I would have for you, 'Is your pup drinking enough water'? Maybe adding a little something to his water to encourage more water drinking can also help with his urine.

If you have grass that you're seeing 'burn' spots, there is a product by Scott's - one of those lawn patch things - speifically for pet urine burn spots. It works great! Rake out the dead grass, spread the seed formula, and water. It'll grow grass faster than any ol' lawn patch. Also, watering down the area does help with diluting the urine.

Hope this helps!

If you haven't already, you might have a quick read through the following thread...

Salvaging a lawn from "burn" spots?

It's pretty much the same issue you're seeing with the bushes, bushes just tend to take longer to burn than grass since the plant is a bit larger. Using ACV and training our sibe to relieve himself in an unplanted, mulched over area off to the side of our house helped tremendously. Watering in where they urinate to dilute it helps too, but honestly who wants to follow their dog around with a hose every time they go out?! I know I don't!

How much ACV to you add to their food? If it has health benefits, I would like to start adding this into my two's diet.

For my sibe, I mix 1 tbsp in with his dinner.
