| Hey!! I have a 2 and a half year old Husky that my husband and I got at 3 months of age. He has always nipped since the day we got him and I feel like we have tried it all! He has improved over the last year with us (occasionally nips at me to get my attention but does not ever jump on us), but still does it incessantly when greeting people which is what really concerns us. Anytime someone other than us approaches him he jumps on them and puts his mouth all over them. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to stop this with strangers (both jumping and nipping). Thanks!! |

| When Mishka did this I dragged her butt into the bathroom and shut the door, every time. It didn't take long for it to sink in that jumping and biting means a bathroom t/o. She only got to come out when she stopped the screaming fit she'd throw after being put in the bathroom. It's pretty much the same concept as this:

| Oh wow, that worked! Kody will not do this to me or Ivan, but when people come over...yep..it's all that plus crying and howling like a crazy dog. He's going in the bathroom every time...LOL!!! |

| Took about a month until she 100% of the time never did it. It depends on how consistent you are and how often it's enforced as well as how much they hate being shut up in a bathroom! lol _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Hmmm, I wonder if Kody hates the bathroom. He's never been in there! Thing is that I don't have people over too often. Maybe every other weekend or so. I'm going have to start inviting people over just to train him....lmao |

| Aevyn does the same thing, I'd like to try the bathroom time out deal but.. I worry for our...uhm. floorboards? No. The... trim-board...things. He has managed to rip them off the wall when he's determined enough. (I know english, i swear.)
Would it defeat the purpose if I put his toy in there with him to keep him distracted? >_> |

| The idea is to stick them somewhere that they're isolated. Doesn't have to be for a long period of time. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| I'm wondering if this will stop Stormy from eating the cat. My poor cat. I've sprayed him with bitter apple, sprinkled him with red pepper....I'm beginning to think all I am doing is seasoning him. |

| my Elvis doesnt nip as much anymore and doesnt really jump on people. but if he does with niping i yell owe! and he looks at me. and than i say gentle. bc i taught him gentle when he would get a treat have him lick for it not nip.. and jumping i would hold his to front paws and make him stand on his back legs til he gets frustrated when he got to that point i would let him down and say no jump. it helped.
still learning but much better. |
