| I don't know that she'll never stop being a goof. Frankie never did, lol. He just couldn't get out and couldn't hurt himself. I provided him with TONS of exercise hoping to wear him out before hand and he was only left for 2-4 hours at a time. He just really hated being alone. It caused him so much stress, he would still pee in the crate. I now live with mom and dad who have a dog. Now that he's not alone and he's getting older he is so much better. They do get better as they get older as long as you stick your guns.
Best of luck!
BTW- how is she doing? is her paw ok? |

| Brought her home last night and her paw is huge and swollen. The vet gave me some meds for it and he also said that he needs to slightly sedate her till it heals. And so she can come to turns with the damn crate. So i went a bought a hard plastic air line travel one last night. Put my 10 year old son in it and told him if he could get out of it i would give him $20. he tried everything. poor kid!!!! never got that 20 from me!!! so hopefully she cant break out of this one!!!The vet say try training classes, I told him that she is a very quick learner. I dont need classes. It only the crate. So i am calling around today to see if any of them will give me some ideas on what to do |

| I might suggest a higher-quality crate. I think your 10 year old could easily escape those flimsy things that I see at Petsmart. Our crate is over 20 years old and ordered from http://www.midwesthomes4pets.com/. I just looked at their site and I noticed that the floor pans are now plastic where ours is a tough steel. I keep saying "they just don't make 'em like they used to." However, I also noticed that you can find commercial quality crates online FOR A PRICE. No crate should have bent and broken and pierced a puppy's paw no matter how crazy the animal is acting!!!! This just further taught her that the crate is bad and it should not be. It should be her safe spot away from things that might hurt her or scare her!!
I'm on a soap bax against flimsy crates (that btw are NOT cheap in price!) so I will shut up!!
Well wishes for your poor, hurt baby! |

| I know I read in one of these threads that putting a sheet over the crate is more soothing and den-like for our pets. Storm seems to like the half bathroom on the main floor and he closes the door half way, which makes it dark. And since it's hard wood flooring, it's cool. Storm does like his crate and will go in to lay down in it on his own at night.
Question: Since Ginger's and Storm's crate are next to each other, I assume it would be totally OK if we threw a sheet over Storm's crate to make it more den-like, but does that matter that they now cannot see each other? Is that even better? Should I seperate their crates to different parts of the room?
