| Hello all,
Just got a new puppy and it is only a month and a day old. Am I supposed to keep the pup with the mother itself for 2 months or so? That is what my friends adviced me for. Also, I need help on what to feed and what not to feed the puppy. Milk? Or no milk? Toys or no? Please tell me everything that I should know because I have zero experience with dogs and this is my first time owning a dog.
Thanks and much appreciated. |

| You don't say where you're from, so that limits a lot of what we can suggest. If you have a shelter / rescue / dog pound in your neighborhood, I'd go talk to them since they generally have a lot of experience dealing with puppies who are that young. And yes, it's best for the puppy if they can stay with their mother and litter mates till they're over two months old. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| I live in Bahrain it is somewhere in the Middle East and the weather is mostly hot here. But I have made a room at my friend's house with air conditioner of course.
So what do I have to do here? Keep the pup with me or get it back to its mother for a couple of weeks more for her milk? Please help me out. |

| We do have a couple of breeders here who would be able to help you better than I. If you can, it would be best for the pup to be with it's mother until it's 8 - 10 weeks old. If it's siblings are also still with her then there's a lot of learning that they'll get from each other that they won't get easily from a human master. Simple bite inhibition is something that they learn from siblings that is a real pain to teach if they haven't learned it before they leave momma. If we bump this a couple of more times, maybe someone who can be a better help than I am will jump in ....
<< laughing >> Somewhere in the Middle East - like east of Saudi and north of the UAE .. well, I guess that's somewhere - hot and windy!! _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |
