Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hello my name is Jason and I've been a dog enthusiast all my life. I have two huskies:

Loki - a 13 Week old Black/White, Splash Coat male - https://www.facebook.com/LokiSibe

Luna - a 9 year old Red/White girls - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Luna-the-Red-Husky/697269157056371?ref=br_tf

I was a K-9 Handler in the Army for several years and now am simply a pet companion Smile.

I look forward to connecting with everyone.

So cool. I think that's the same process that Jen alluded to re: the Layla snow video. Thanks for the info!

The last Texan we came in contact with was over 20 years ago - a regional manager for a contract company my husband worked with at the time. They needed an ED doc in McAllen and Harlingen. The Texan suggested, as politely as he could, that maybe south Texas was not a good fit...culturally, politically, socially. IE, northeastern Jews not really welcome. Something about it could be dangerous for us...

I would really beg to differ with the gentleman, at least on the part suggesting that it could be dangerous. Before he retired, one of my better friends was an ER doc who worked the South Houston area, where among his practice he often found members of the Banditos (a motorcycle club).
Socially and culturally, well I'd probably have to give him that. Politically, I've found Jews to have opinions that are as varied as the rest of the world.
BTW: I often attended schul at a conservative temple in south west Houston. Were conversion to Judaism as simple as conversion within the Christian faiths I would have. Even though they would ocassionally count me to make up a minyan the rabbi was a real stickler for his reasons for conversion.

Welcome to the forum Jason and hello fellow Texan! I will actually be heading to Austin soon to be attending the Starmark Dog Academy 12 week course to become a dog trainer, since i am interested in working in protection sports and military or police K-9 handling. So its cool that that is what you used to do!
