2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.

Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Hi,

Is anyone willing to look at my dogs neutering wound and tell me if it is healing the proper way or if I have something to worry about?

I can direct message you a couple pictures.

Thanks for your help in advance!

A properly heading wound will have only mild redness, very little excess heat, no odor, very little oozing and then only a little pale yellow, clear fluid (serous) and only in the first couple of days. No foul odors.

Signs you should call the vet: puffy, angry redness that is expanding not regressing, hotter than the surrounding skin, cloudy, purulent or foul smelling discharge, a dog that "looks" sick.

Honestly if you are worried you should take him to the vet.

How long until the scrotum shrinks?

Depends on his age at neutering - the younger, the quicker it shrinks.  Ami was neutered at 12 months of age, scrotum disappeared in maybe 6-8 months.  Archer neutered at 4 mo - his scrotum gone within 2 months.

This thread may have some relevance - I don't know what your concerns are regarding your dog's neutering, so I'm just guessing. How long ago was he neutered? Are you concerned about wound management or whether he was fully neutered (missed some tissue)?
