2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Hurt puppy. Limping . Help. Empty
PostSubject: Hurt puppy. Limping . Help.   Hurt puppy. Limping . Help. EmptySun Jul 27, 2014 11:50 pm

If it's not one thing its another. Simon was running around with Maya today and I think tripped or ran into something. Anyway he was limping this afternoon but seemed to walk it off but was still a little stiff. We get home and he is still walking stiffly but I have to go visit some family. I stick him in his crate hoping that some rest will do him good. Get home he is worse. Limping will walk on it but only just. I honestly can't tell if it's his knee hip or ankle. I put ice on all of them but I can tell it's still bugging him and when I reached to touch his leg he growled a little bit.
I have been getting some crap from my dog friends about being a little to quick to freak out and run to the vet and I will admit I don't have a lot of dog experience but I don't want him hurt.
Please help what would you do.

Personally I would take him to the Vet. My dog (Now my moms dog *grumble*) once jumped across a ditch and broke BOTH of her 'wrists' but you wouldn't have known it from just looking. She was, to me, in obvious pain and wouldn't let me touch her paws, they swelled up only a tiny bit and she wouldn't MOVE except to painfully hobble.

Edit: Everyone wanted me to wait to take her to the vet as well but I am glad I didn't it would have made the problem worse. I had to bully my mom to get her to drive me there (I was 15 at the time)

Don't let your friends dictate how you handle your dog's health. If YOU think something is wrong DO something. You have had him almost all his life, you know when he is hurt or acting funny, trust your gut.

Please take him to the vet just to make sure. Miya jumped off a ledge thinking it was a shorter distance to a tank(pond)and twisted her front shoulder at 6 months of age. They are tough as nails, because she never really acted like anything was hurting, the next morning she was wincing. We took her to the vet, her shoulder got out of socket, good grief, she will probably pay for this when she is older. Although all they did was massage it in and gave us pain meds, through them out after one dose of zombie dog, and I just made sure she restricted her activity for a week or so. Just take him to make sure he didn't break anything. Good luck

Why do huskies take the phrase "limit activity" as a challenge.

Also he isn't allowed to walk up stairs. We have two flights of stairs in our home and he is a 9 month wiggly crazy puppy. This part hasn't been a lot of fun. At least I can carry him.
